Rob Ickes, Andy Leftwich, and Dave Pomeroy joined together ten years ago to form Three Ring Circle and pursue a common goal - to create innovative and memorable music with the unique combination of dobro, mandolin, and upright bass. Individually they are world-renowned players who have worked with everyone from Elton John to Blue Highway, John Fogerty, Earl Scruggs, The Chieftains and Ricky Skaggs. As Three Ring Circle, they are blazing a new trail for fans of instrumental music everywhere.
Three Ring Circle’s self-titled debut album includes seven original instrumentals written by the group (Rob Ickes on Dobro, Andy Leftwich on mandolin and fiddle, and Dave Pomeroy on bass) in various combinations, and creative reworkings of classic tunes by Jeff Beck, Stevie Wonder and French guitarist Bireli Lagrene. The music incorporates a world of musical influences into a seamless blend that is immediately recognizable. This album was nominated as the International Bluegrass Association's Instrumental Album of The Year in 2007. Three Ring Circle's music is exciting, innovative, emotional, and as Duke Ellington used to say, "beyond category."
